Ask Dr. Spurlock: What is waterlase dentistry?

Waterlase Dentistry is one of the most advanced dental technologies available today and happens to be a more gentle method to fix tooth decay. Waterlase Dentistry uses a patented combination of laser energy and water - a process called Hydrophotonics - to perform a wide range of dental procedure on teeth, gums and bone more comfortable. Our experienced dentists typically use fewer numbing and less anesthesia to provide a more comfortable dental experience.

Waterlase dentistry is a major advance, both in terms of patient comfort and clinical results. At Advanced Dental Concepts, we are committed to providing optimum care for all our patients in a compassionate manner. Your health and comfort are foremost in our minds, and patients experience Waterlase Dentistry as more comfortable, convenient and less invasive at our convenient Pace office. Waterlase dentistry combines laser energy and a spray of water to gently cut teeth, gums and even bone without generating heat, vibration or pressure that can cause discomfort or damage.

After the procedure, patients report a dramatic reduction in pain, as well as less post-operative swelling and infection. There is lesser chance of walking out of our office with a numb lip because fewer - and sometimes no shots are required!

Yogurt and gum disease, from Advanced Dental Concepts

Did you know that consuming yogurt and lactic acid drinks is associated with better periodontal health? In fact, a recent study revealed that people who ate yogurt on a regular basis were "significantly less likely to have gum disease" compared with folks who never eat yogurt. Periodontal, or gum disease, is a chronic bacterial condition associated with receding gums and tooth loss in adults.

The "healthy" bacteria that are found in yogurt help keep the levels of bad bacteria in your mouth in check, including the kinds that help contribute to gum disease. We encourage you to read the rest of the article and enjoy that cup of yogurt once in a while! And, don't forget to get those regular checkups and cleanings- summer is a great time to visit Advanced Dental Concepts. Please give us a call at (850) 304-0027 to schedule an appointment.
